Embraced by the Light Review
If we had to think that death was the end, for most of us, what would be the point? Why do babies get sick and die? Why are some people born crippled or in poverty, or rich? It hardly seems fair. Embraced by the light by Betty Eadie gives us God's point of view. Earth is a testing ground where we can see if what we're truly made of. We give ourselves weaknesses to make us grow stronger in the overcoming of those weaknesses. We grow emotionally when we are struck by tragedies. We become more empathetic when we go through hard times.
Eadie's book is so clearly written and so down to Earth that it's easy to understand what could be difficult concepts. Wouldn't you know it that we'd have to die to figure out what our lives on Earth are all about. Thank goodness Eadie came back to let us know that there's nothing to fear. That God loves us and that we're eternal.
I love the chapter on choosing a body. About the spirit trying to get two young people together so that they could be his parents. Puts a whole new spin on blaming your parents for your own short-comings. I guess we only have ourselves to blame for how our lives turn out if we're the one choosing our parents.
In the end, Eadie claims that we are here to love each other. Sounds like a great idea and maybe if everyone had a near death experience, we'd all be more loving.
